Swedish Sun

The bad news is that it’s hard to feel motivated to do much when it’s always overcast and the promise of more snow lies forever in the forecast. It means the sun is that much further away, and layers, wet dirty paws, and ice continues to be an all-too-real reality.

The good news is that today it is above freezing and NOT snowing! And the constant, steady dripping sound means the inches of snow we do have are melting away.

The bad news, is that it’s still miserably overcast today. It’s probably getting to me, but I’m trying to ignore it and focus on other things besides the grey-ness. Like…how a it feels to be in Sweden from May to October.

It’s an indescribable feeling. Scandinavian summers are irresistible. I want a summer cabin here so we can always return when we have to move away.

May to October may not sound like it’s enough time for it to be warm and sunny out, but truthfully, last year it didn’t seem like it wasn’t enough. It seemed like fall and winter came right as they should. (I may be in the minority thinking here…)

In any case, here are just some of my favorite moments in the sun from last year:

mattfishing

vadstenabunting

Also looking forward to: long days with nearly no night, outdoor eating (on our porch and patio eating at restaurants), and ice cream shops being open…
